I am a software developer but retired in 2025, one year after emigrating from the Netherlands to Spain.
As a watch enthousiast I was browsing Kickstarter in 2012 for watches and stumbled upon Eric Migicovsky’s project Pebble.
A smartwatch that reminded me a little of the Seiko Message watch that was one of my favourite non-mechanical watches ever.

The Pebble was really appealing to me and allthough the concept of the first Pebble was very basic and utterly plastic I backed the project. Just for fun and because I missed the Seiko message watch.
Following the project’s success, which saw over $10 million pledged, I received my first original Pebble. It was an engaging device to use, made even more compelling by the fact that, as a software developer, I could program it myself. Operating under the name PNL Design, I contributed numerous original applications and watchfaces to the growing Pebble community and later on for Fitbit,
My apps and watchfaces can be downloaded at the Pebble Appstore.
I plan to ensure that all my watchfaces and apps remain available for the new Pebble. I have several designs originally created for the Pebble Time 2 that were never released to the public due to the device’s cancellation. Although I saw my “Complications” watchface running on a pre-release unit owned by Jon Barlow, Pebble’s Developer Advocate, I never had the opportunity to wear it myself.
This will change in June 2026 with the launch of the new PebbleTime 2. The Pebble 2 Duo was scheduled for release in July 2025.
Curious about the new Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2? You can check them out here and pre-order yours! There is now also a stunning round version which is planned to be launched in December 2026.
